God Awful Hideous

MARIAH!! Why?!? You know, you're my all-time favorite singer (I almost named Libby after you...) but even my love for all your songs cannot erase the simple fact that those shoes are just W-R-O-N-G!!!!! Love you new song, love your new body, promise to buy your new album BUT please...HIRE ME AS YOUR STYLIST!! I promise to take good care of your huge ass closet :D Okay fine, you dont have to hire me but at least go home and burn those damn things. I mean, yes, wedges are in, but that color and the design with that outfit??? Really?? You can do much better...if you can recover from a public breakdown, you sure as hell can recover from those shoes. I have faith in you! Okay, go and make me proud now!

Chanel Sunglasses

These odd-looking Chanels were a big hit when they first came out on the runway and Nicole Richi promptly went out and bought herself a pair. Too bad they look way gross on her. But I was at Neiman's once and I saw a old Asian lady wearing them and they were actually super duper chic on her. Of course, just cus they looked great on her did not make me want to go out and get myself a pair. I would not recommend these to anyone under the age of 55. So if you like them, maybe you can live vicariously through your grandmother and buy these for her as a bday gift. They definitely bring back some old Hollywood glamour but I'd say 99 out of 100 people can't pull these off :P

I think this kinda illustrates my point...

Is That??

Oh my! Is that what I think it is?!? Lauren Conrad with a NEW CHANEL PURSE?? I'm glad she finally read my blog :P But seriously though...I'm happy for her! A new purse to go along with a new season of The Hills and her new house :) Great choice! Jumbo Classic Chanel in black with gold chain...the same one I bought my mommy for Mother's Day last year. Okay...LC, you're back in my good graces :D

Fashion Toast

I was kinda, sorta bored yesterday at work and started going through many, many fashion blogs when I came upon www.fashiontoast.com. My goodness!! This chic gal puts me to shame!! Talk about serious vintage style. Most of her super chic outfits are put together with a combination of vintage secondhand pieces + cheap thrills from Forever 21/Marshalls/Goodwill/etc. She gains 150% of my respect and admiration for having such a unique/chic/bold/brave sense of style. She doesn't care that her clothes aren't designer items or that they're from stores like Goodwill, Forever 21, and Marshalls. She finds great pieces, matches it up with her other items and BAM!!!...delivers a completely awesome outfit! I wish I was as brave :P So far, I've only been able to find fashion blogs by people who take pride in owning designer items acquired at prices that cost more than someone's rent and Fashion Toast is such a refreshing find. Can you tell I'm like totally in love with this girl?!? I have to say, I wouldn't have the guts to buy a lot of her pieces because they're kinda out there but the way she puts her outfits together is just amazing. She is living proof that fashion is not defined by the dollar value but is rather the result of buying what you like, not caring that its from cheap stores, not caring that its not from a IT designer, and putting it together to fit your very own style. BRAVO FASHION TOAST!!

Vintage Balenciaga Haute Couture (AKA THE Most God Awful Hideous Thing On Earth...)

I usually love browsing through Decades since they offer one of a kind vintage items from the most wonderful designers but this has got to be THE ugliest dress I have ever in all my 23 years laid eyes on!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm not exaggerating when I say, I cringe just looking at it. U-G-H. So what if its "hand-plucked and dyed ostrich feather gown gently attached to a light apricot textured chiffon base"?!? It could have diamonds dangling off of each feather for all I cared! This is just so wrong. I know haute couture pieces are usually a bit out there but this is not just out there, this is so hideous it shouldn't ever have been created.

YSL Spring/Summer 08

So I just received the spring/summer 08 catalog from YSL and just wanted to share the good and the bad with you. None of the ready-to-wear were really eye-catching since they sort of went for a pj's look this season...very Tilda Swinton at the 08 Oscars :P However, the accessories had some notable items.

First the UGLY:
While the star motif is cute...WTH is up with those SHOES?! I mean..yes, most of us know where our toes are thank you. But for any of you who may have forgotten and need reminding...look no further, YSL to the rescue. And is it just me or did they over do it with the straps?? These are like Super Duper strappy heels! In Christian's words, these shoes are just "God awful ugly" (roll the eyes, flip the hair)!

The FIERCE (say it like you mean it!):
Love this new metallic gold YSL is pushing! While the belt I can do without, everyone and their moms are raving about the metallic crackled gold Majorelle bag. But what really caught my eyes are the flashy pumps! While the crackled gold version is very, um, unique...I'm really all about the shiny metallic bronze. I have these great Giuseppe Zanotti pumps in the same color but those are no where near the sexiness of these YSL pumps. But yes, I should diversify and stop spending money on sky-high YSL pumps...

**NOTE: Sorry my pictures are so crappy but if you want, just ask and I'll show you the actual catalog!**

**2nd NOTE: If you are completely in the dark about my Christian references, do us all a favor and go watch Project Runway!**

Cate Blanchett at the Oscars

I usually don't like to blog about awards show fashion since every other website has all the pictures and commentary but I just had to comment on Cate. Pop quiz! Is that thing around her neck a necklace or part of her dress??? Well if you guessed necklace...man your good! And if you guessed part of her dress...join the rest of the world. I was totally convinced that it was embellishment on her dress but I was watching E Fashion Police and they had a Asian chick on there explain to everyone that its actually a necklace which is suppose to match with her earrings! I know right?! Anyhow, great pregnant dress and the emerald green works wonders with that deep purple hue :) I hope I'll look as radiant when I'm pregnant :P

Gucci Bag Swap

Just last week I did a Gucci bag swap with my mom. My mom had been complaining about this black bag since its a bit hard to open so last week when I went home, I finally traded my version of this bag (brown instead of black, brown leather strap instead of chain, and the bigger size made it more day appropriate) for hers. My mom got this bag in the summer of 2003 when we were in Italy and I bought my version April 2004. I was always hesitant to trade with her since I wasn't sure how often I would get to use this bag but I've outgrown the day version and matured into this version thats more suitable for nice evenings out on the town. Last time I went out with friends, I was amazed at how little trouble this bag caused as I danced the night away (with it on my shoulder the entire night) and its also surprisingly roomy...I was able to fit my big ass cell phone and my camera in there without feeling like I was breaking the bag. Oh, and coincidentally, I was just watching the last season of Friends this weekend and realized, Rachel has the smaller version of this bag in red :)

A Gift from My Cousin

As you probably know, this year is the Year of the Rat and the rat happens to be my zodiac sign...I'm like the rat's tail cus my bday is in December :) Anyhow, my mom got all my cousins to buy gifts for me since Chinese people think you tend to have bad luck when its the year of your zodiac sign. My youngest cousin, shes about 11 or 12 , got me this blinged out chain! I think this is completely adorable, though not wearable, granted shes not even a teenager and already has some fashion sense :D She must take after her mom who, rumor has it, owns jeans that go for $1000 a pair O.O Don't worry, I won't wear this out since dangling a huge Mickey Mouse pendant isn't exactly chic but I must say, Libby looks fierce with it on!

Soft Dior Babe Small Shopping Bag

Its been a loooong time since I've found anything from Dior even remotely attractive but lookie here...a new bag to crave for the spring! The Soft Babe bag first caught my eye when I saw a picture of Eva Mendes carrying it on her arms. Then this weekend as I was flipping through my Neimans (or Saks...forget which one...) book, I saw a breathtaking picture of the Soft Babe in purple ostrich. While the ostrich is a bit out of my league (I believe the asking price is $8000), I'm free to oogle at the the regular leather version :) The little clutch you see in front of the bag is actually attached to a leather strap on the inside of the bag and you can choose to leave it inside or carry it separately...two bags for the price of one!! Although I swore off the Gucci top handle bags, I love the handle on this bag and the color is simply to die for <3 I'll need to see it in person to find out just how big and heavy the bag is...I'm also hoping the handle will be wide enough to fit on my shoulders cus I think this would be great as a arm or shoulder bag. Bold colors are whats in for this spring so this would be fantastic for me to carry but I'll wait a bit as currently, a new bag is actually towards the end of my WANT list (shocking, I know!). This bag does kinda, sorta resemble the Marni bag but hands down, I would choose this purple bag over the patent Marni ones!

Um, NO

Can someone please kidnap these two losers and take them to outer space?! My goodness...these two must be the cheesiest attention whores A L I V E. Dont they know all of America is on Team Lauren and Audrina?!? Are they really fooling us with the yacht, Cristal, roses, and Jimmy Choos?? N to the NO!!! Dear Lord...just look at that fake OMG expression on her face...*PUKE* I 've never taken acting lessons but I'm pretty sure I can do better!

**PS: I finally posted my entry about this year's BNY warehouse sale but you gotta go back a few entries to read it :) OH! And I posted a better picture of my YSL heels from way back when **

Take THAT BIATCH!!

My friend PH sent me this story and I just had to share:

Jennifer's wedding day was fast approaching. Nothing could dampen her excitement -- not even her parents' nasty divorce.. Her mother had found the PERFECT dress to wear and would be the best dressed mother-of-the-bride ever! A week later, Jennifer was horrified to learn that her father's new young wife had bought the exact same dress! Jennifer asked her to exchange it, but she refused. "Absolutely not. I look like a million bucks in this dress, and I'm wearing it," she replied. Jennifer told her mother who graciously said, "Never mind sweetheart. I'll get another dress. After all it's your special day." A few days later, they went shopping and did find another gorgeous dress. When they stopped for lunch, Jennifer asked her mother, "Aren't you going to return the other dress? You really don't have another occasion where you could wear it." Her mother just smiled and replied, "Of course I do, dear. I'm wearing it to the rehearsal dinner the night before the wedding."

THE BESTEST BOOTS EVERRRRRRR

I saw a petite Asian lady wearing these Lanvin boots in black at the BNY warehouse sale and almost died. I dont know if you can tell from these pictures, but these are the bestest boots on EARTH. Yes, I stand by this statement. She first caught my eye because of her crazy skin-tight leather leggings but then I saw her Lanvin boots and it was love at first sight. I dont know...I'm starting to get addicted to Lanvin. I'm just dying to get another pair...I'm slightly obsessed with the box that the shoes come in...dont ask :P Anyhow, these shoes are about knee-high, feature that funky Lanvin platform, perfectly shaped, right slouchiness, and of course, has that great geometric heel. Lanvin = my new Louboutin. Sorry Christian, you had to be replaced at some point right?

MJ and VB

MJ sure picked a great campaign model! VB is being photographed like crazy wearing MJ all over NY and my gosh, I LOVE this coat on her! The original coat from the runway was actually pretty yucky (the tan had more orange and the length was longer) and I'm guessing Posh had it tweaked to better fit her tastes. This Posh version is the perfect tan color and I love the military-style buttons in the front. Of course I don't have the courage to go prancing around with just a trench coat and some boots on, but this coat would totally chic up any outfit. Every girl over the age of 19 should have a trench to add a touch of sophistication and well, to keep warm during the cold winter days :) I would also say its okay to splurge on trench coats as you'll most likely be wearing it for years on end. To be honest, tan is actually missing from my trench coat collection which currently includes pink, white, black, and gray but I'll be realistic and admit that I wouldn't die if I did not acquire this piece. But if you're looking to stock up for next year, I would say this is probably the cutest trench I've seen all season!

Joie Suede Wedges...FINALLY!!

Do ya'll remember these shoes that I blogged about way back when?? If you dont, its okay, the important thing is that I F I N A L L Y bought these shoes from shopbop! Patience pays off :) I swear, my new thing nowadays is stalking the sale section of shopbop and waiting for my things to go on Final Sale...lol...yes, no shame :P But I get the last laugh as I pay less than $100 for things that were twice, three times, or even four times the amount! I think these shoes would be great with my wide-leg jeans or a cute dress :) The bad thing about Final Sale items is that you can't return them but depending on the store, you might be able to exchange them. The good thing about them is that you can rest assured that you are getting the best possible deal on the items as this is the vendors last attempt at selling them!! Okay, I'm going to go wait for my shoes to arrive now :)

Bottega Zip Wallet

Among other things, a new wallet is on my "WANT IT NOW" list. My Dior wallet is not too rundown but you see, its white and therefore gets dirty way too easily. I was browing through the BV website yesterday and decided, I wouldn't mind getting this pretty zip wallet...even though its a light shade of pink.
Besides the signature weave and the pretty color, I love how roomy this wallet is. Although I'm too much of a neat freak to hoard receipts (like my mom), I hate people who use teeny-tiny wallets and stuff it to the max...give your wallet a break and upgrade (eehh...kinda contradictory, but you know what I mean)! Gosh, the more I look at this picture, the more I'm craving this wallet!! The BV website also has cuuute flats to match this wallet! And while you're there, browse through the entire mouth-watering Spring/Summer 08 catalogue!

Van Cleef & Arpels

UH OH! I officially have a new craving/obsession and its in the form of the famous Van Cleef & Arpels clover design. Founded in 1896, VCA is favorite of Mariah Carey and has infamously been copied by Heidi Klum for her jewelry line. Right now I can't decide which piece/collection I like more! I love buying jewelry but find that too often, I'm too lazy to actually wear my jewelry out. To be honest, I think it would be best for me to start off with a nice pair of VCA earrings cus my earrings usually get the most use...but then again, I LOVE long necklaces and dangling bracelets...OH and I'm a girl, so how can I not love diamond rings?! Most substantial pieces by VCA will cost you at least $1000...$2000-$4000 and up would be a more accurate estimate. The cheapest and simplest pieces run around $800ish. I SO plan on requesting a modest piece for my next birthday :P My dad and mom are firm believers that jewelry are one of the greatest investments since they tend to appreciate over time. My dad has always encouraged me to buy jewelry instead of handbags...last time he said it would be fine for me to buy a few nice pieces of jewelry here and there but to please stop it with the purses...I think its time I take him up on that offer :D

BNY Warehouse Sale

Yes, its that time of the year again, the mother of all sales, the BNY Warehouse sale, is back! For those of you in the dark, BNY has 2 big warehouse sales in LA and NY per year...one in February and one in August. My first time was last August and lemme tell you...its an experience to be experienced and remembered. Some important things to note...always go on the first day for the best selection and the last day for the best deals, if you dont get there right when the sale starts then dont bother going at all, attack the bags first, shoes second, and clothes third, grab anything that looks decent because IT WILL be gone when you go back for it, they supposedly restock everyday but no, not really, go to the guy's section when you are ready to try stuff on as their section is way less crowded, and finally, be prepared to see naked people :) The LA sale is held in the Barker hanger at Santa Monica Airport and the sale lasts for about 11 days.

August 2007: I arrived about 30 minutes early and was towards the middle part of the line. By the time I got to the bags, they were all gone. By the time I turned to the shoes, they were also all gone. The selection was also crappy. I had a blast with the clothes. Organized by designer and size, offered a great selection of dresses.

February 2008: Even though I arrived 10 minutes later this time around, I was more towards the front of the line. I was not shy about running towards the bags but was dismayed to discover that this time, they only had BNY bags. I quickly turned to the shoes and was absolutely delighted that they did not vanish within the first ten minutes of the sale, in fact, there was a great selection! I filled my arms with shoes by Prada, Lanvin, Chloe, etc. Finally decided on Prada and Stephen pumps. Moved onto the clothes. Selection was way smaller this time around and not as organized. Most stuff were clumped together by size, not designer. I didn't really feel like going through all the racks and so picked out a few that were organized in the designer section. Settled for a Mike and Chris leather jacket, a Rebecca Taylor cardigan, MJ dress, and a MJ top.

Conclusion? While the hoards of pushy women can be a bit much at times, I think I will keep going back for the great deals and I would recommend all shopaholics to do the same :) PS: For all your LA and NY people...this is the last weekend so shop til you drop :)
**Yes, I know...I should have posted pictures of what I bought but I dont have the time right now...maybe I'll update later**

La Maison Goyard

So apparently Goyard is slated to be the next LV in America...even though its been around longer than LV. Both brands were founded in Paris in the 1850s and became famous for their trunks. And today, both offer consumers obnoxiously monogrammed items!! Perhaps sarcasm doesn't go over so well on blogs but people...lay off the Goyard! Ugh...the first time I saw Goyard at BNY, my first thought was...what kinda ugly ass bags are those?! The only thing "cool" about Goyard is the fact that its the oldest trunk-making company in the world. Besides that, can you please tell me what is attractive about these bags?! I mean okay, alot of designers put out monogrammed stuff but lets be real, Goyard has one of the ugliest monograms out there! And just like LV, these bags are canvas bags so I'm not really sure where the "quality" comes from. Alot of people argue that the styles Goyard offers are very versatile but personally versatility ain't enough to sway my vote.

Gucci Loves New York Bag

While this bag is for a good cause, with all proceeds going to charity, I just really can't picture anyone actually being able to pull this bag off. The only thing thats okay about this bag is the nice shade of white that serves as the background for the atrocious "Gucci Loves NY"
statement. DZ says this bag is just like the "I Love NY" t-shirt, only $600 more. I honestly would rather sport the t-shirt instead of this ugly bag with its big stripes, Gucci in cursive, and red heart. I mean, which outfit would you pair this with?? Where would you take it to?? I have nothing against NY and can tolerate Gucci most of the time, but the problem really is in the execution of the bag. Couldn't the Gucci design team come up with a more chic/classy way of professing their love for NY?? I'm no artist, but I personally think I coulda probably done better!

Makeup

I love Christina but I feel like I should pan a few things out with her makeup artist! I mean the red lips are her signature so we'll ignore that but I can't stand this two-toned skin color thing!! Girls...layering on half a bottle of foundation will not help you "cover up" anything. It'll do the opposite. It'll make it blatantly obvious that you spent 20 minutes painting your face in hopes that others will think you have nice skin!! And if you really feel its necessary to use that much makeup then at least get the correct color! Or at the very least, blend into your neck so that it doesn't look like you were born two-toned. I must admit, when I was in high school, I also thought applying foundation was the way to go. Then I took a look one day in the mirror and realized...all I really need is some concealer for the areas under my eyes. I suggest all you clown makeup people do the same...take a minute to look at yourselves in the mirror and analyze if 10 layers of foundation all over your face is really necessary!! Chances are, its not. And heres some real motiviation...you're not fooling anyone! Anyone with eyes will know that you're wearing loads of makeup! So Christina...love the mommy boobs, your voice, your sass, but please...LAY OFF THE FOUNDATION!

LV Damier Azur Speedy

Will you still love me if I confess that the Damier Azur Speedy canvas bags from LV has grown on me? I know, I know, I can't believe it either! Don't worry, I still detest the Damier canvas and still swear to never buy canvas bags from LV again :) But admit it...you have a LV canvas bag hidden somewhere!! I like to bring my monogram Speedy out on rainy days cus its one of the few bags that won't be harmed from the raindrops and its also nice for short weekend trips...its like a makeshift vanity case :P In any case, this color combo has really grown on me and I'll go so far as to say, if you dont own a Speedy already, I would recommend getting it in Damier Azur instead of monogram! Oh and, from personal experience, opt for the 30 instead of the 25 which is proving to be a bit on the small side for me.

**UPDATE: For anyone interested, DZ posted a pretty good link in the comments section regarding the best way to take care of LV canvas bags...**

Enough Already!

I completely understand that people like to spend their money on different things and handbags might not be a big deal to everyone...but seriously...if you can afford a $2.5million house, why not add another bag to your collection?!?!? LC from The Hills has practically super-glued this bag to herself and in almost every picture I see, she has this damn bag with her. Lauren, I love you way more than Heidi and Kristen combined but maybe you should call me and we can go pick out a new bag together, yea?? I mean yes, this is a classic Chanel shopper in caviar leather, but there are other bags out there!! Plus, your EX, the drunk-tard, gave you this bag like 2 seasons ago on MTV :P I'm sure this bag is convenient and has sentimental value but another bag would do her some good. I usually tend to get attached to bags also, well its more like I'm too lazy to switch bags everyday, but I force myself to adhere to the 3 week rule...it ensures that all my purses get equal loving :)

Moses Basket

Its Friday which means no work and all play! Play to me is browsing the internet for new things to crave and I found something for Princess Libby on the Neimans website :) This is suppose to be for new born babies but I imagine it to be the perfect size for Libby. Libby usually likes to sleep on the floor right next to my bed all snuggled up in her blankie/pouch thingy. I think with this cute Moses basket, she'll have a little crib next to her sleeping parents :D I also love the handles on this thing...Libby wouldn't even have to walk anymore! Okay...I'm just kidding...dont get freaked out :P

Givenchy Nightingale

The Givenchy Nightingale was a big hit when it first came out but I wasn't a big fan cus I found the handles to be a bit awkward and plus, I've never been a fan of detachable shoulder straps! In any case, all these fresh new colors are making me reconsider my original verdict :P These new color choices would definitely work for spring and summer, not to mention, making the Nightingale more suitable for gals in their 20s. Most people use this as a hand/arm bag rather than a shoulder bag since who really ever uses the detachable thingy?? I personally LOVE the yellow...anyone else have a favorite color??

Lanvin Elastic Ballet Flats

I currently have a thing for flats! I'm this close to ordering another pair of Tory Burch flats, this time in silver, but I thought it might be a good idea to diversify! I've always liked the simplicity behind the Lanvin ballet flats but $540 for some flats?? The only time I've even considered spending that much on flats was at the Southcoast Chanel and to be honest, Chanel flats are the only flats that I would be willing to pay $500+ on. But if you're a true Lanvin fan or love flats or have money to spare, I would say the Lanvin flats are classic and comfy shoes that would look great with some skinny jeans or a day dress...especially if your tall and have legs up to HERE :P

Audi R8 (I think...)

Ignore cheesy Chace for a sec and look at the sexy Audi behind him! I've never really been a big fan of Audi since I kinda grew up around them but none of the Audi's from my childhood looked this sleek and sexy!! From my research, I'm pretty sure this is the new Audi R8 (a bit fixed up here) that will be available in the US this summer. The starting price is a measly $109,000 (hah)! Supposedly this car is the only car that can beat Porsche...whatever, I dont need it to be fast, I just need it to look sexy :P For better pictures, visit audi.com!

**UPDATE** I hope you all watched the Super Bowl and saw the commercial for this sexy car!!**
