I dont know...I just can't throw away pretty shopping bags...
I moved twice in '09 and both moves forced me to throw away most of my shopping bag collection :( It was getting a bit out of hand...esp when I realized that there were actually boxes packed to the max with nothing but shopping bags that I had saved from 2002 and on...
My current collection is maybe 1/10 of what it was but I guess at the end of the day, they're just shopping bags...
And yes, I also save the tags, the "nice" ones at least...
As well as the smaller shopping bags and ribbons...
And even the extra buttons and thread that comes with the clothes...
LOL...yes, I am a pack rat. Just like my parents and brother :P As ND said, I am a true "collectaholic". I actually think its my addiction to collecting that drives my shopaholic tendencies. It would probably take a good amount of posts for me to display all of the different collections I have :P In any case, keeping random collections has been my thing ever since I was six years old - makes me happy, keeps me sane, and allows me find long forgotten treasures like this:
I'm pretty sure I blogged about this watch before - I got this for my 12th birthday and I loved it to death...for about a year. What can I say? Middle schoolers are fickle. I was almost certain that this was long gone but thanks to my wonderful hoarding abilities, it turned up the other day when my mom and I were unpacking. Once I get new batteries for it, it'll be ready to be loved again :)

Good to know you found your watches!! I remember you post about them being missing for a long time. with so many color frames, you can pair them with so many outfits!

Guess... I've got the same watch! Mine was gifted for... I really can't remember the occasion (17th bday, maybe? Bah...)
It was very "fashion" in those year, as I can remember. Everyone had one since many brands made that. Or almost it was true in Italy.
And... Yes: I have the habit to keep nice shoopping bag, too (and buttons and tags and so on...).
Another (bad?) habit is to keep original makeup packaging (I just use Chanel). But they're so nice and the drawer looks just like a shop one... ;-)
you aren't crazy! i save my nice bags and nice tags. for the tags i save em in case i ever have to sell...

Abt the watch...i know right?!?! I was looking at the pic right now and the lilac would've been perfect with my outfit yesterday cus I wore my lilac Ron Rons :)

i keep my bags too...but i threw out almost all of them when i moved...no room in my new apartment although i seem to have amassed a lot of new ones lately...HAHAHA

I hang onto most of my bags and tags, too. I suppose I feel like I should keep them in case I ever sell the item and want to prove it's not a fake. And you have to hang onto the buttons--never know when you're going to need a spare!

Manolo - Yup! All perfectly valid reasons for keeping tags and buttons/threads. I just thought of another reason why we keep our shopping bags; besides being pretty, some can remind us of our initial excitement/joy when we first purchased whatever was inside them :)

T: LOL, I'll take that as a compliment!! Half of the "non-prestigious" shopping bags were sorted out during my first move in 09 and I actually ended up using all of them during the move. This time around, I had to sort out the remaining ones and they're actually all stuffed in our storage room downstairs...they'll probably eventually get used for something or another...

Hi! I'm new to your blog, but becoming a fan---fast! I'm the same, I keep all of the paperbags....and like you, when I had to move to my new house I had to 'downsize' a bit. So I threw out the 'non-designer' [paper]bags (with much pain!), but still keep the rest. Along with the ribbons and tags. And I keep them organised by size and type too. Yes, OCD me. Actually, to be honest, I have most thrill when I get the PAPERbag in the store, to the point that I'll buy something from a boutique just so that I'll have their carrier bag. Pretty wacky.
